TRENDS / AW 12

Autumn is, without doubts, my favorite season of the year (too bad I live in a city where heat doesn't give us a break). It is not only my favorite season because of the weather and the breathtaking landscape, but also because of fashion: the color palette is indulgent, the shapes are flattering and versatile and the overall aesthetics are bold yet very elegant. 

September is the starting month for fashion weeks! But as we already know, designers and fashion houses will be displaying Spring/Summer collections as guidance for next year's seasons. 

I leave with a summary of Autumn trends and my favorite looks of each!!!

Otoño es, sin duda alguna, mi estación favorita del año (que mal que vivo en una ciudad donde el calor no nos dá una pausa). No es sólo mi estación favorita del año por su clima y su paisaje asombroso, pero por la moda:  la paleta de colores es complaciente, las formas son favorecedoras y versátiles y la estética en general es audaz, pero muy elegante. 

Septiembre es el mes donde comienza las semanas de la moda! Pero como ya sabemos, los diseñadores y las casa de moda estarán exhibiendo las colecciones de Primavera/Verano como guía para estas estaciones del próximo año.

Los dejo con un resumen de las tendencias de este Otoño y mis "looks" favoritos de cada una.

COLLAGES: "I'M BACK!!!!!!"

Hi guys!!! It's a bittersweet feeling to be finally back. I absolutely love this blog and I have put so much effort and time into making it something worth presenting, that I'm so sad I was absent for so long. At the same time, I'm extremely motivated to continue delivering interesting and quality posts. One of the reasons of my absence is a special project I have been working for a while now. I will let you know soon and I will keep you updated. What I can tell you is that it is going to be worth the waiting. 

This is the first time I try a post like this. I would like to call them, for now on, "Collages" because is a composition of things I own and love. I believe this type of posts will open a bigger "window" to my lifestyle and dreams. In this occasion I'm showing you some guilty guilty pleasures of mine: both August issues of Harper's Bazaar and Architectural Digest; the new fragrance of Bvlgari Omnia Coral; dried flowers on a classic Royal Doulton porcelain mug, and a small painting by Julio Russo (oil on canvas). 

Fall season is here now and along with it, comes a lot of fashion :)!!!!!!!

Hola chicos!!! Estar finalmente de regreso me produce una sensación agridulce. Yo amo este blog y le he dedicado tanto esfuerzo y tiempo en producir cosas que valgan la pena ser presentadas, que me entristece mucho haberme ausentado por tanto tiempo. Asimismo, Estoy extremadamente motivada para cotinuar desarrollando entradas interesantes y de calidad. Una de las razones de mi ausencia es un proyecto especial en el que he estado trabajando desde hace un tiempo. Pronto les contaré sobre el y los matendré al tanto de todo. Lo que si les puedo adelantar es que es algo que valdrá la pena la espera.

Esta es la primera vez que intento una entrada como esta. Me gustaría llamarlas, de ahora en adelante, "Collages" porque es una composición de cosas que tengo y que amo. Opino que este tipo de entradas abrirán un "ventana" mas gránde hacia mi estilo de vida y mis sueños. En esta ocasión les estoy mostrando algunos de mis "guilty pleasures": ambas ediciones de Agosto de Harper's Bazaar y Architectural Digest; la nueva fragancia de Bvlgari Omnia Coral; flores secas en un clásico "mug" de porcelana Royal Doulton y una obra pequeña de Julio Russo (óleo sobre lienzo).

La temporada de Otoño ya está aquí y con ella viene mucha moda :)!!!!!!!

LOOK OF THE DAY: "GOLDEN DETAILS"

I was organizing my computer, it was a total mess when suddenly I found the pictures of this look and realized I forgot to post them. I've been sick for a week already. I have a viral tonsillitis and, believe me, I have never felt so much pain in my life. Finally it seems like I am getting better; the doctor says it is only 2 more days until the pain is gone (because it is a viral and not bacterial, it doesn't react to antibiotics, so basically you have to endure the pain with the minimum help of anti-inflammatories). On the bright side, this is the last week of classes for this semester, (just one more academic and one internship semester left until graduation) then, off course, our "beloved" finals week.

How was your mothers day??? Well mine was pretty much full of work (my mom is a decorator and owns a flower shop, so we work all night long, off course my illness didn't help much).

Estuve organizando mi computador, era un desorden completo cuando de repente encontré estas fotos y me di cuenta que había olvidado publicarlas. He estado enferma desde hace una semana. Tengo una amigdalitis viral y, créanme, nunca había sentido tanto dolor en mi vida. Finalmente parece que me estoy mejorando; el doctor dice que me quedan sólo 2 días más hasta que el dolor desaparezca (como es viral y no bacteriana, no reacciona a los antibióticos, de manera que hay que soportar el dolor con la mínima ayuda de anti-inflamatorios). Por otro lado, esta es la última semana de clases de este semestre (sólo me falta un semestre más académico y uno de prácticas profesionales para graduarme) luego, por supuesto, nuestra adorada semana de exámenes finales.

Cómo pasaron el Día de las Madres??? Bueno, el mío fue prácticamente lleno de trabajo (mi mamá es decoradora y tiene una floristería, por lo que tuvimos que trabajar toda la noche, y por supuesto mi enfermedad no ayudó en lo absoluto).

LOOK OF THE DAY: ENITBAR 2012

Hello there! As I promised to make as many posts as possible this week, here is the look I chose for the play "La Espuma" at ENITBAR 2012, which is the International Encounter of Theater of Barranquilla. I had an awesome time. The play is directed by the argentinian Gabriel Fiorito. It is a proposal filled of melodrama, subtleties, of dispossession and whites (all the elements in the scene were with). It made me laugh genuinely. It was brilliantly interpreted by Romina Pinto (as Sandina) and Mauricio Chazarreta (as Segundo). I hope you like the pictures! We were rushing not only with the sunlight but to get to the theater on time.

Hola a todos! Así como les prometí que esta semana iba a hacer la mayor cantidad de entradas posibles, aquí les dejo el look que elegí para la obra "La Espuma" en el marco del ENITBAR 2012, el cual es el Encuentro Internacional de Teatro de Barranquilla. La obra está dirigida por el argentino Gabriel Fiorito. Es una propuesta cargada de teatralidad, de sutilezas, de despojo y de blancos (todos los elementos en escena eran blancos). Me hizo reir genuinamente. Fue brillantemente interpreatada por Romina Pinto (como Sandina) y Mauricio Chazarreta (como Segundo). ¡Espero les gusten las fotos del look! No sólo estabamos corriendo con la luz del sol sino además para llegar a tiempo al teatro.

ARTccessories / MAXI TURQUOISE NECKLACE TO DIE FOR

This was just, literally, love at first sight.  I sincerely couldn't help it to dig in my purse for every penny I had to buy it at that moment. I have to confess, that day I was actually going to buy a pair of shoes in the store next to this one, but this beauty couldn't wait. I think this is the favorite piece of jewelry I own right now. You may find similar pieces (they are sort of one of a kind) in the store called KHBEIS own by the two young designers and sisters Waleed (jewelry) and Fadia (leather goods). I highly recommend this store since every piece is created with great taste and have a clear arabic influence (which I love since I have a strong lebanese ascendancy).

Esto fue, literalmente, amor a primera vista. Sinceramente no pude evitar escarvar en mi bolso en busca de cada centavo que tenía para comprarlo en ese momento. Debo confesar que ese día estaba yendo a comprar unas sandalias en el almacén al lado, pero esta belleza no podía esperar. Creo que esta es mi joya favorita actualmente. Puedes encontar piezas similares (son de cierta forma únicas) en el almacén KHBEIS propiedad de las dos jóvenes diseñadoras y hermanas Waleed (joyería) y Fadia (marroquinería). Se los recomiendo mucho porque cada pieza es creada con exquisito gusto y una clara influencia árabe (lo cual me encanta debido a mi marcada ascendencia libanesa).

LOOK OF THE DAY: VESPA IN FLOWERS

To shoot this "look of the day" Brian and I were driving trough the streets of Barranquilla, trying to find a nice place, when all of the sudden we spotted this old Vespa (they are very uncommon in this city) surrounded by beautiful flowers.

Hope you are not having to much trouble adapting back to "normal life-mode".

I was wearing mango trouser, zara basic skirt, mango bag, nine west heels and ray-ban sunglasses.

Para fotografiar este look Brian y yo estuvimos recorriendo las calles de Barranquilla, tratando de encontrar un lugar agradable, cuando de repente divisamos esta Vespa antigua (son poco comunes en esta ciudad) rodeada de hermosas flores.

Espero que no esten teniendo problemas en adaptarse de nuevo al "modo-vida normal".

Tenía puesto un pantalón mango, blusa básica zara, bolso mango, sandalias de plataforma nine west y gafas ray-ban.

SPRING BREAK WITH FAMILY IN CARTAGENA

I just wanted to share with you some pictures of the this spring break which we decided to spend in Cartagena together. We use this little vacations to relax and share quality time with each other, that sometimes is impossible due to our busy lifes. In this picture appears by my side my beloved cousin Susana (she is more like a sister to me). We were having, along with my parents, a wonderful lunch at very particular restaurant and bakery in the "old city" called "Mila". It is one of my favorite places in Cartagena. This day I was wearing a denim shirt bought in a fair in Buenos Aires, Zara black skirt, Zara bucket bag, Sandra Gómez sandals and Studio F necklace.

Sólo quería compartir con ustedes algunas fotos de la semana santa que decidimos pasar juntos en familia en Cartagena. Usamos estas pequeñas vacaciones para relajarnos y compartir en familia, debido a que a veces esto se hace imposible por nuetsras vidas ocupadas. En esta foto aparece a mi lado mi adorada prima Susana (ella es más como una hermana para mi). Estábamos almorzando, junto con mis padres, en un particular restaurante y pastelería en la ciudad amurallada llamado "Mila". Es uno de mis lugares favoritos en Cartagena. Este día tenía puesto una blusa de dril comprada en una feria en Buenos Aires, falda negra Zara, un bolso zara estilo mochila, sandalias Sandra Gómez y collar Studio F.
